The Hag (Lisa Sherwood)
Lore Overview
Lisa Sherwood lived a quiet life in a small, secluded village surrounded by swamps and superstition. The people were kind, and the elders taught her their ancient charms—symbols drawn to keep evil at bay. For Lisa, they were simple comforts, signs of safety in a world untouched by the outside. But even the most sacred wards cannot protect against what hides in the dark.
One stormy night, as lightning split the sky, Lisa lost her way in the mire. The rain was relentless, the mud thick beneath her feet. When she slipped and struck her head, the world blurred—and through her fading vision, she saw shadows moving between the trees. Then came the darkness.
When she awoke, she was chained in a flooded cellar. The air stank of rot, and in the flickering light, she saw others—starved, mutilated, alive only to feed their captors. The cannibals carved flesh from bone and feasted while the victims screamed. Days bled into weeks, her body ravaged and infected, her will the only thing that remained unbroken. One night, in a final act of defiance, she tore herself free—skin and sinew giving way to freedom.
Crawling through the filth, delirious and dying, Lisa remembered the symbols of protection the elders had once taught her. With the last of her strength, she carved them into the ground with what was left of her hands. The markings pulsed with a dark energy, and something ancient stirred—a hunger that called to her. When the villagers later found the shack, its inhabitants were torn apart, their remains scattered among the symbols drawn in blood.
Lisa’s body was never recovered. Only the whispers remained—of a twisted figure haunting the swamps, her charm-marked flesh stretched and warped, lashing out at any who dare approach.
The Hag was born, and her vengeance was eternal.
