Lore Overview

Rebirth through suffering — that was John Kramer’s philosophy. The man the world would come to know as Jigsaw believed pain could be transformative, that those standing on death’s edge could learn to truly live. Yet the origin of his cruel philosophy was steeped in tragedy. When his unborn son was killed during a robbery gone wrong, something inside John shattered beyond repair. In the wake of that agony, he found purpose — a twisted rebirth — and with it, a new symbol: The Pig, representing decay, rebirth, and the rot of wasted life.

Amanda Young was one such wasted life. A woman consumed by addiction and self-destruction, her existence was a cycle of damage — hurting herself and those who reached out to help. Until Jigsaw tested her. Confronted with her mortality, Amanda survived — and emerged reborn in his image. To her, he was a savior, a prophet. She became his devoted apprentice, donning the pig mask as both a disguise and a symbol of her new purpose. The Pig would become the harbinger of Jigsaw’s message, abducting his subjects and dragging them toward their own brutal reckonings.

But devotion can curdle into obsession. As John’s illness consumed him, Amanda’s desperation grew. Her faith twisted, her compassion warped. She began to believe that no one was truly capable of redemption — that the tests were no longer about salvation, but punishment. Seeing this corruption, John devised one final test — not for his victims, but for her.

Amanda failed. Her jealousy, rage, and grief blinded her to the lesson. As she lay bleeding out on a cold, tiled floor, darkness swallowed her whole. But death was not the end.

When she awoke, the world was different. A forest loomed around her — unnatural, endless. Her mask pressed against her face once more, her breaths echoing in the hollow stillness. Perhaps this was Hell… or perhaps it was another test. A new master awaited her — The Entity.

Now, The Pig stalks the trials of the Fog, continuing her work with renewed ferocity. No longer a disciple, but a predator in her own right. For Amanda Young, the lesson remains the same — life is fleeting, and all flesh is destined for the blade.

Whenever a Survivor is rescued from a Hook while you are farther than 32 metres away, Make Your Choice activates:

  • Causes the unhooking Survivor to scream and reveal their location to you.
  • Causes them to suffer from the Exposed Status Effect for 40/50/60 seconds.

Make Your Choice has a cooldown of 40/50/60 seconds.

Scourge Hook: Hangman's Trick

“Your ingenious modifications to hooks alert you of tampering.”

At the start of the Trial, 4 Hooks in the environment are changed into Scourge Hooks:

  • The Auras of these Scourge Hooks are highlighted in white.

While carrying a Survivor, Scourge Hook: Hangman’s Trick triggers its primary effect:

  • The Auras of all Survivors within 12/14/16 metres of a Scourge Hook are revealed to you.

Whenever a Survivor starts the Sabotage action on any Hook, Scourge Hook: Hangman’s Trick triggers its secondary effect:

  • Triggers a Loud Noise Notification at the location of that Hook.

Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability:

The Auras of damaged Generators are highlighted based on their current state:

  • White Aura: The Generator is currently regressing.
  • Yellow Aura: The Generator stopped regressing due to Survivor-intervention.
    • This effect lasts for 8/12/16 seconds, after which the Generator Aura returns to its default colour.

While Survivors are repairing Generators, they suffer from the following effect:

  • Increases the audible range of all noises related to the Repair interaction by +8 metres.

Plague Perk

Your prayers invoke a dark power that meddles with the Survivors’ chances of survival.

  • At the start of the Trial, the 3 Generators located farthest from you are blocked by The Entity for 80/100/120 seconds.

Corrupt Intervention deactivates prematurely once the first Survivor is put into the Dying State.

Artist Perk

(Strong early pressure and slowdown when used right with your birds.)

Overwhelming pain reverberates outwards.

At the start of the Trial, 4 random Hooks are changed into Scourge Hooks:

  • The Auras of Scourge Hooks are revealed to you in white.

You start the Trial with 4 Tokens on Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance.

Each time a Survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook for the first time, 1 Token is consumed and the following effects apply:

  • The Generator with the most Progression explodes and instantly regresses by 10/15/20 % of its total Progression.
  • Normal Generator Regression applies afterwards.
  • All Survivors repairing that Generator will scream, but not reveal their location.

 

Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance is disabled for the remainder of the Trial once all Tokens are consumed.

Shape Perk

Damaging any Survivor other than the Obsession with a Basic Attack causes Save the Best for Last to gain +1 Token, up to a maximum of 6/7/8 Tokens.
Damaging the Obsession with either a Basic or Special Attack causes Save the Best for Last to lose -2 Tokens:

  • Grants a stack-able -4 % per Token Cool-down time reduction on successful Basic Attacks, up to a maximum of 24/28/32 %.

Save the Best for Last freezes its current Token Count once the Obsession is sacrificed or killed.
You can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

Cenobite (General) Perk

You induce mental suffering by crushing any hope of escape.

Whenever a Generator is completed, The Entity blocks the Generator with the most progression for 15/20/25 seconds.

  • The Aura of the blocked Generator is revealed to you in white during this time.

Add-ons

This collection of mechanical parts allows the creation of extra-challenging Jigsaw Boxes and Reverse Bear Traps that are easier to install.

Increases the Attach speed of Reverse Bear Traps by +50 %.
Reduces the Search speed of Jigsaw Boxes by -25 %.

A timer that has been fiddled with.
A spring in the mechanism forces the gears to turn faster.

  • Reduces the Death timer of Reverse Bear Traps by -20 seconds.

Crouch & Ambush
“Silent Executioner”

Clown Perk

After vaulting a Window, Bamboozle calls upon The Entity to block that Window for the next 8/12/16 seconds.

  • Blocked Windows cannot be vaulted by Survivors.
  • Increases your general Vaulting speed by 5/10/15 %.

 

Bamboozle only blocks one Window at a time and does not apply either of its effects to vaulting Pallets.

Hillbilly Perk

Whenever a Generator is repaired to 70 %, you benefit from the following effects:

  • Triggers a Loud Noise Notification for that Generator, revealing its location.
  • Grants the Undetectable Status Effect for the next 12/14/16 seconds.

Tinkerer can only trigger once per Generator per Trial.

Doctor Perk

Meticulous in your approach, terrifying in your application.

  • Increases the base value of your Terror Radius by 6/7/8 metres for the entire Trial.

Whenever you are not in a Chase with a Survivor, the following effect applies:

  • Reduces your Terror Radius by 12/14/16 metres.

Cenobite (General) Perk

“A Hex that toys with a victim’s suffering.”

Each time you hook a Survivor for the first time, if there is at least one Dull Totem in the environment, Hex: Fortune’s Fool activates and lights a Hex Totem:

  • Causes that Survivor to suffer permanently from the Oblivious Status Effect.
  • Blocks their Hex Totem from being cleansed by any other Survivor for 90 seconds.
  • The Aura of their Hex Totem is revealed to the Cursed Survivor within 24/20/16 metres.
All effects of the Hex Perk persist until its Hex Totem is cleansed or blessed.

Add-ons

Leather straps that hold fabric in place for nimbler movement.

Increases the Transition speed into the Crouched State by +10 %.

You are not going to let just anyone into the VIP room.

For each Survivor you hook for the first time, No Way Out gains 1 Token.

Once the Exit Gates have been powered, No Way Out activates:

  • When a Survivor interacts with an Exit Gate Switch, you receive a Loud Noise Notification and The Entity blocks both Exit Gate Switches for 12 seconds and an additional 6/9/12 seconds per Token in your possession, up to a combined maximum of 36/48/60 seconds.

Nightmare Perk

Whenever the Obsession loses a Health State by any means, Remember Me gains +1 Token, up to a maximum of 3/4/5 Tokens:

  • Increases the Opening time of both Exit Gates by a stack-able 6 seconds per Token, up to a maximum additional Opening time of 18/24/30 seconds.
    • This results in a maximum possible Opening time of 38/44/50 seconds for both Exit Gates.

Remember Me does not apply its penalty to the Obsession, allowing them to open both Exit Gates in the default time of 20 seconds.

You can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

Nightmare Perk

As soon as at least one Exit Gate is opened, Blood Warden activates:

  • The Auras of Survivors are revealed to you, whenever they are inside the Exit Gate.

Once per Trial, hooking a Survivor while Blood Warden is active calls upon The Entity to trigger the following effect:

  • Blocks all opened Exit Gates for 40/50/60 seconds, preventing any remaining Survivor from leaving the Trial through them.

Cenobite (General) Perk

Nemesis Perk

The NE-α parasite provides you with the intelligence and awareness needed to set a trap.

Performing the Damage Generator action on a Generator applies Eruption:

  • All affected Generators are highlighted to you in yellow.
  • The next time any Survivor enters the Dying State by any means, all affected Generators explode and immediately start regressing, which removes the highlighted Aura.
  • Instantly regresses the Generator by -10 % of its maximum possible Progression.
  • Causes all Survivors repairing the afflicted Generators to scream and reveal their Aura to you for 8/10/12 seconds.

Eruption has a cool-down of 30 seconds.

Demogorgon Perk

Your eerie presence charges the air and interferes with technology.

Whenever you put a Survivor into the Dying State with a Basic Attack, all Generators within 32 metres of your location instantly explode and start regressing.

  • Instantly regresses affected Generators by 6/7/8 %.

Any successive trigger unblocks the oldest Blocked Window.

All effects of the Hex Perk persist until its Hex Totem is cleansed or blessed.

Dredge Perk

In your presence, places once thought to be safe are perhaps the most dangerous.

Searching a Locker has the following effect:

  • The Auras of Survivors within 8 metres of any Locker are revealed to you for 6/7/8 seconds.

Darkness Revealed has a cool-down of 30 seconds.

Executioner Perk

You guide your victims along a path of pain and punishment.

Performing the Damage Generator action on a Generator activates Trail of Torment:

  • Grants the Undetectable Status Effect until the Generator stops regressing.
  • The Aura of the damaged Generator is revealed to all Survivors in yellow.

Trail of Torment has a cool-down of 60/45/30 seconds.

Demogorgon Perk

Your distressing presence drains and weakens your prey.

All Survivors repairing a Generator suffer from the following afflictions:

  • Incurs the Blindness and Exhausted Status Effects for the duration of the Repair action.
    • If a Survivor was already suffering from Exhausted prior to Mindbreaker affecting them, the Status Effect’s timer will be paused and not recover for the duration of the Repair action.
    • Both Status Effects linger for another 3/4/5 seconds after a Survivor stops repairing.

A modification to the Reverse Bear Trap:
The heavy cloth face mask, laced with a sedative, partially suffocates the target, making it hard to concentrate.

  • Survivors caught in a Reverse Bear Trap suffer permanently from the Blindness Status Effect.

Fills the reader with rage and focus.

  • The Auras of Survivors within 16 metres are revealed to you when Crouched.
  • Reduces the number of carried Reverse Bear Traps by -2.
